In keeping with the traditions of the mediaeval Order, founded some 900 years ago primarily for the alleviation of leprosy (now known as Hanson's Disease), without regard to creed or nationality, the modern Order of St Lazarus supports leprosaria worldwide. The Scottish Grand Bailiwick plays a full part in the work of the International Order as well as supporting many local Scottish charities. How to become a lifelong member of the Order.
The Military and Hospitaller Order of St Lazarus of Jerusalem is a chivalric organisation whose aim is to succour the weak and oppressed in society.
